Dan Vezinaw, Certified Structured Settlement Consultant, maintains the San Jose office for Settlement Planners, Inc., one of the country’s top plaintiff oriented structured settlement firms. As an active member of the Society of Settlement Planners, the only Plaintiff oriented Structured Settlement Association; Dan is able to provide his clients with the most current settlement strategies utilizing periodic payments, trusts and other financial planning strategies.
Prior to joining Settlement Planners, Inc. in 1997, Dan received a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Jose State University (1980) was Vice-President of International Settlement Services from 1985 to 1990 and Regional Vice President, Northern California, with Creative Capital from 1990 until 1997.
In September 1997, Dan attended and completed a course of instruction designed by the National Structured Settlement Trade Association (NSSTA) and the University of Notre Dame. The advanced course included extensive study covering such topics as insurance claims practice, state and federal laws pertaining to tort settlements, medical reversionary trusts, special needs trusts, macro economics, the art of negotiation and business ethics. Upon successful completion of the course, Dan received the industry designation of Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC). At the time, he was one of less than 200 throughout the country holding the title.
In his 20+ year career, Dan has gained a tremendous amount of expertise. Dan has extensive experience with multiple defendant/plaintiff, catastrophic, personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. Beginning with his career at ISS and continuing now with Settlement Planners, Inc., Dan is responsible for managing a multi-office structured settlement firm. He is responsible for coordinating all settlement documents with defense and plaintiff counsel. This includes drafting, reviewing and finalizing the documents necessary for personal injury/workers’ compensation cases and those that require Special Needs Trusts, 468B Trusts and Medical Reversionary Trusts. In addition, he actively surveys the market for the most competitive prices, utilizing rated ages, jumbo discounts and other strategies to obtain the safest and most competitively priced annuities for his clients.
In addition to his professional career, Dan has been involved in his community serving as Parks and Recreation Commissioner (City of San Jose 1983-1988, chairperson 1987-88), and Planning Commissioner (City of San Jose 1988-1992, chairperson 1990-91). Beginning in 1992 and continuing now, Dan serves as a high school football referee. He is married to the beautiful Vicky Vezinaw and together they are raising their sons, William and Nicholas.
